About these file converters

Data almost always turns up in the wrong shape: a CSV export you need as JSON, a config in YAML when the tool wants JSON, an HTML email you'd rather have as Markdown. It's a two-minute job that becomes twenty when you write a script for it.

These converters go both ways, tell you exactly where the input is malformed, and pretty-print the result. Because they run in the browser, you can safely paste an API response or a customer export without wondering whose server it landed on.

Frequently asked questions

Is my data uploaded during conversion?

No. Parsing and conversion happen in your browser, which is what makes it safe to paste an API response, an export or anything else you wouldn't post to a random site.

What happens if my input is invalid?

You get the specific line and column where parsing failed rather than a generic failure, so you can fix the file instead of hunting through it.

Are quoted fields and commas inside values handled?

Yes. The CSV parsing follows the usual quoting rules, so values containing commas, quotes or line breaks survive the round trip intact.

Does converting JSON to YAML lose anything?

The data survives exactly; formatting doesn't. Comments can't exist in JSON, so converting YAML to JSON and back will drop them.

How large a file can I convert?

There's no imposed limit. Multi-megabyte files convert fine on a desktop browser — the constraint is available memory, not a server quota.
