Frequently asked questions
Why does Instagram ignore my line breaks?
Instagram's mobile app strips plain newlines when you paste a bio in some versions. The Line Break button inserts a character that forces a visible break reliably. If pasting still removes breaks, type the bio directly in the Instagram app and use the Return key.
What are the character limits?
Twitter/X allows 160 characters, Instagram 150, LinkedIn 220, and TikTok 80. The meter turns red once you go over.
How are emoji counted?
As one character each, which is what you see — a family emoji is built from several code points but reads as one symbol, and counting those separately would tell you a bio was too long when it isn't. X is the exception: it charges two characters for every emoji and for Chinese, Japanese and Korean text, so its meter follows X's own rules and will show a higher number than the others.
Should I write a different bio for each platform?
Ideally yes — LinkedIn bios tend to be more professional, Twitter/X bios are punchy and short, Instagram bios can include line breaks and emoji for visual impact, and TikTok bios need to be very tight. Use this tool to adapt a single draft to each platform's limit and tone.
Is my bio text saved anywhere?
No — everything stays in your browser memory. Closing or refreshing the tab clears the text. Copy your bio before leaving the page.
