About the Remove Duplicate Lines

Remove duplicate lines from a list while keeping the original order — with case-insensitive matching and trim options, all in your browser with no upload.

How to use the Remove Duplicate Lines

  1. 1Paste your list into the box on the left — one item per line.
  2. 2Choose whether matching should ignore case, and whether to trim each line first.
  3. 3The de-duplicated list appears on the right, keeping the original order.
  4. 4Copy the result with one click — nothing is ever uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Is this tool free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser — your text never leaves your device.

Which duplicate is kept?

The first occurrence of each line is kept and the rest are removed, so the original order of your list is preserved.

Can it ignore case and spacing?

Yes. Turn on “ignore case” to treat Apple and apple as the same line. “Trim each line” removes leading and trailing spaces before comparing — note that it trims the result too, so leave it off if your list is indented and you want to keep that indentation.

What does the count at the top mean?

It lists every line the tool took out: how many were duplicates, and separately how many were blank lines, if you turned that option on. If nothing was removed it says so, and your list comes back unchanged.

Does it sort my list?

No — this tool only removes duplicates and keeps your order. If you also want to sort, use the Sort Text Lines tool, which can de-duplicate while sorting.
