About the JSON Diff
Compare two JSON objects and see exactly what changed — added, removed and modified keys highlighted side by side, all in your browser with no upload.
How to use the JSON Diff
- 1Paste the original JSON on the left and the updated JSON on the right.
- 2Click Compare — added keys are shown in green, removed in red, changed in amber.
- 3Unchanged keys are shown in grey; nested objects are expanded to show the deepest change.
- 4Nothing is uploaded — comparison runs entirely in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What does the diff show?
Added keys (present in the right but not left), removed keys (present in the left but not right), and changed values (same key, different value). Unchanged keys are shown for context.
Does it handle nested objects and arrays?
Yes — the diff is recursive. Nested objects are compared key by key. Arrays are compared by index, so reordering an array will show all elements as changed.
Why does reordering array items show everything as changed?
Arrays are positional in JSON, so [1,2,3] and [3,2,1] are genuinely different values at each index. There is no semantic 'same set, different order' concept in JSON.
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. The comparison runs entirely in your browser using JavaScript — your JSON never leaves your device.
