About the Passport Photo Maker
Make a passport or visa photo to the exact size for India, the US, UK, Schengen and more — crop to spec and download a printable 4×6 sheet, all in your browser.
How to use the Passport Photo Maker
- 1Upload a clear, front-facing photo taken against a plain, light background — JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC all work.
- 2Choose the country and document type — the crop box locks to that photo's exact proportions and shows where your head and chin should sit.
- 3Drag the box to line your head up with the guides, and watch for the warning if your photo is too small to print sharply.
- 4Download the single photo at the exact size, or a print sheet with several copies laid out with cut guides.
Frequently asked questions
Is this passport photo maker free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up and no watermark. Make and download as many photos and print sheets as you like.
Are my photos uploaded to a server?
No. Everything is processed in your browser — your photo never leaves your device and nothing is stored on our servers.
Which passport sizes are supported?
India (35×45mm passport/OCI, 51×51mm visa, and 25×35mm for a PAN card as specified on Form 49A), the US (2×2in), UK, Schengen/EU, Canada, Australia and China. Each preset crops and sizes the photo to that country's official specification at 300 DPI.
How big should my head be in the photo?
Most authorities specify it: the UK wants 29–34mm from chin to crown in a 45mm photo, the US wants 1–1⅜ inches in a 2-inch photo, and India asks for the face to fill 70–80% of the frame. The crop box draws those guides for the preset you pick, so you can line up the top of your head and your chin as you frame the shot. The authority's own template is always the final word.
Why does it warn that my photo will print blurry?
A 35×45mm photo at 300 DPI needs 413×531 pixels. If the area you crop is smaller than that, it has to be enlarged, and enlarged photos print soft — a common reason for a photo to be handed back. Take or choose a higher-resolution photo, or crop a wider area.
The upload form has a file size limit — can I meet it?
Yes. Switch the file size setting to “Under a limit” and enter the maximum in KB. The tool finds the highest quality that fits, and the pixel dimensions stay exactly on spec. The download button shows the final file size before you save it.
How do I print the photos cheaply?
Pick a 4×6 or 5×7 inch sheet (or A4) and the tool tiles as many copies as fit, with cut guides. The preview shows the layout before you download. Take the file to any photo lab or print it at home, then cut out each photo.
Does it change the background to white?
Not here — this tool crops and sizes. If your background isn't a plain white or light grey, run the photo through the Background Changer first (there's a link in the panel), then come back and crop it.
What should a passport photo look like?
Face the camera straight-on with a neutral expression, eyes open and mouth closed, in even lighting with no shadows. Keep your whole head and the top of your shoulders inside the crop, roughly centred, and line the head up with the guides shown.
