About the Image Resizer
Resize JPG, PNG and WebP images by pixels or percentage right in your browser — lock the aspect ratio or use passport-photo presets, with no upload.
How to use the Image Resizer
- 1Drop in an image, paste one, or click to browse — JPG, PNG, WebP and iPhone HEIC all work, and everything stays on your device.
- 2Set a new width and height, scale by percentage, or cap the longest side — whichever suits what you need.
- 3Or pick a ready-made preset like a passport photo or a social-media size, and choose whether to crop to it, fit inside it, or stretch.
- 4The preview shows the real output shape and the exact file size, so click Download when it looks right.
Frequently asked questions
Is this image resizer free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many images you resize.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Resizing happens entirely in your browser — your images never leave your device and nothing is stored on our servers.
How do I resize an image without stretching it?
Keep the “Lock aspect ratio” link on between the width and height boxes, so changing one updates the other. If you need an exact size that's a different shape — a passport photo, say — choose Fill, which crops to that size instead of squashing the picture. Fit keeps the whole image and makes one side smaller, and Stretch is there only if you genuinely want the distortion.
Can I resize a photo for a passport or visa application?
Yes — choose a passport preset to set the exact pixel size. Presets switch to Fill, which centre-crops your photo to that exact shape rather than distorting it, and the preview shows you exactly what will be cropped before you download.
How do I make sure an image is no bigger than 1920px?
Switch to Long side and enter 1920. The longer side becomes 1920 and the other scales to match, so neither side exceeds it and the proportions are untouched — which is what most upload and email limits actually ask for. If your photo is already smaller, this enlarges it instead, and the tool warns you when that happens.
Can I see the file size before downloading?
Yes. The preview updates as you change settings and shows the exact size of the resized file, and the Download button carries that number too. In Target size mode the tool finds the highest quality that fits under the limit you set.
Does resizing reduce the image quality?
Making an image smaller keeps it sharp. Enlarging beyond the original size can look softer because the tool has to invent extra pixels, and the tool warns you when you're doing that. For photos, JPG or WebP output with a high quality setting gives the best balance of size and clarity.
What is the difference between resizing and compressing?
Resizing changes the pixel dimensions (width × height); compressing reduces the file size at the same dimensions. Use the Image Compressor if you only need a smaller file, not smaller dimensions.
