Frequently asked questions
Is this sitemap generator free?
Yes — completely free, with no sign-up and no watermark.
Is my URL list uploaded anywhere?
No. The sitemap file is built entirely in your browser — your URLs never leave your device.
What is an XML sitemap for?
It's a file that lists your site's pages so search engines can discover and crawl them more efficiently — especially useful for large sites or pages that aren't well linked internally.
Do changefreq and priority actually matter?
Google has said it largely ignores them today, though they're still part of the sitemap spec and some other search engines and tools do use them. It's fine to include them for completeness or leave them out — the list of URLs is what matters most.
Where do I put the sitemap file?
Upload it to your site's root, e.g. https://example.com/sitemap.xml, then submit that URL in Google Search Console (or reference it in your robots.txt — see the Robots.txt Generator) so crawlers can find it.
