About the Pitch Shifter
Upload an audio file and shift its pitch up or down in semitones without changing the tempo — preview and download the result, all in your browser with no upload.
How to use the Pitch Shifter
- 1Upload an audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC or M4A).
- 2Drag the semitone slider — negative values lower pitch, positive values raise it.
- 3Click Process to apply the pitch shift (this may take a few seconds for large files).
- 4Preview the result and click Download to save the shifted audio.
Frequently asked questions
Does pitch shifting change the tempo?
This tool shifts pitch only using playback-rate adjustment, which does change duration proportionally. For time-stretch-independent pitch shifting a more complex algorithm (phase vocoder) would be needed.
What audio formats are supported?
Any format your browser's Web Audio API can decode: typically MP3, WAV, OGG, FLAC and M4A. Unsupported formats will show an error.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit is enforced, but very large files (100 MB+) may take longer to process because the entire audio is decoded into memory in the browser.
Is my audio uploaded to a server?
No — the file is decoded and re-encoded entirely in your browser using the Web Audio API. Nothing is sent to any server.
