About the PDF to Excel
Extract a table from a PDF into an editable .xlsx spreadsheet, all in your browser with no upload.
How to use the PDF to Excel
- 1Add a PDF — drop it in or click to browse.
- 2Check each page: the shaded part is left out, and the dashed lines split the columns.
- 3If a column is wrong, drag its line, tap the ruler to add one, or select one and remove it. Drag the top and bottom edges to change which rows are read.
- 4Check the rows in the preview — numbers and dates show right-aligned — and say whether dates like 05/03 are day-first if asked.
- 5Click Download Excel to save it as an .xlsx spreadsheet.
Frequently asked questions
Is this PDF to Excel converter free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up and no limit on how often you use it. There's no fixed file-size limit either, but because everything runs in your browser, a very large PDF is only bounded by your device's memory.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. The extraction and spreadsheet are both built entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
How does it find the table?
It groups text into lines by height on the page, then looks for the stretch of lines that split into several columns — that's the table. Titles, addresses and footnotes around it are left out. Column lines go in the white space between columns. It's a guess from how the text is laid out, so check it: you can move, add and remove column lines and change where the table starts and ends, on the page itself, with undo.
What if a cell's text wraps onto two lines?
With Join wrapped lines on, a line set tightly under a row, with nothing in the table's first key column (usually a date or a number), is joined to the row above. A line holding a bare figure is never joined, so total rows stay rows. A table printed with no extra space between rows can still fool it — untick the option if rows are being joined that shouldn't be.
Can I keep the text outside the table?
Yes — untick Only the table and every line of every page is read. A page with no table is left out by default; open it from the page strip and choose Include page to read it anyway.
Can I convert a multi-page PDF?
Yes. A table that runs across pages comes out as one table: pages of the same size share one set of column lines, so moving a line on one page moves it on all of them, and a header row repeated at the top of each page is kept once. Tick One sheet per page to give each page its own sheet instead. Pages of a different size get their own column lines, and their columns may not line up with the rest.
Do numbers and dates come out as real values?
Yes. Numbers, amounts with ₹, $, € or £, percentages and dates are saved as values Excel can sum and sort, not as text. Account numbers, PIN codes and anything with leading zeros stay as text. Numbers written with a comma as the decimal point, like 1.234,56, also stay as text.
Will this work on a scanned PDF?
Only if it already has a text layer. Scanned pages with no selectable text produce no rows, and the tool says so — run OCR PDF first to add one.
