Frequently asked questions
Is this Excel to PDF converter free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up and no watermark on the result.
Is my spreadsheet uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
What formatting carries over?
Cell values keep their number, currency, percentage and date formats, and bold text, horizontal alignment and solid cell background colours are kept. Font colours and sizes, italics, cell borders, column widths, images, charts and comments are not — this is a readable copy of the data, not a pixel-exact reproduction of Excel's own print.
Does it work with multiple sheets?
Yes — every visible sheet is converted and each one starts on a new page. Sheets that Excel has hidden are left out, the same as Excel's own print, and the tool tells you how many.
What happens to formulas?
Formulas are not recalculated — the value Excel last saved in each cell is what prints. A file written by something other than Excel may carry no saved values, and those cells print blank; the tool counts them and says so.
What about very wide sheets?
Two settings handle these. Landscape orientation fits noticeably more columns per page, and "shrink to fit the page width" scales the whole sheet down until every column fits, the same as Excel's own fit-to-width. With both off, a wide sheet is squeezed into the page width and long cell text wraps instead.
Can I choose the paper size and leave sheets out?
Yes — A4 or Letter, portrait or landscape, and a tick box per sheet so you can print just the ones you need. Change any of them and the preview re-lays out, so the page count you see is the page count you get.
Can I change how wide a column is?
Yes — drag the line between two column headings in the preview, or focus a divider and use the left and right arrow keys (hold Shift for bigger steps). Widths start from the widest cell in each column, and "Reset column widths" puts them back.
Do column headings repeat on every page?
Yes, when "repeat the first row on every page" is on — each sheet's first row is printed at the top of every page it spans, so a long table stays readable past page one. Switch it off if your first row is a title rather than column headings.
How are merged cells handled?
Cells merged across columns print as one wide cell, so a heading merged over several columns spans them. Cells merged down rows show their value in the top cell and leave the rest of the merged area blank, because a merge that straddles a page break can't be drawn on both pages.
Does this work with .xls files, not just .xlsx?
Only .xlsx (the modern Excel format) is supported. Save an older .xls file as .xlsx in Excel first.
