Frequently asked questions

Is this collage maker free?

Yes — completely free with no sign-up and no watermark.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. The collage is created entirely in your browser — your photos never leave your device.

How many photos can I add?

Up to 25, which is what the largest grid holds. They fill the cells in order, and any beyond the number of cells are shown greyed out under Photos so you can see exactly which ones didn't make it in — add a row or a column to include them.

Can I build my own grid?

Yes. Rows and columns are set independently, anywhere from 1 to 5 each, so you can make a 2×3, a 4×2, a single wide strip or a 5×5 block. The buttons underneath are shortcuts to the most common grids, not the only options.

Can I make a collage for Instagram or a story?

Yes — pick the size you need and the collage is built to those exact dimensions: Instagram post (1080×1080), Instagram portrait (1080×1350), story, Reel or TikTok (1080×1920), Facebook post, X post, YouTube thumbnail, or a Pinterest pin. The cells take whatever shape divides that canvas, so a 3×1 grid on a story gives three wide panels rather than three squares with empty bands around them.

Can I change the order of the photos?

Yes — each thumbnail has arrows to move it earlier or later. The first photo goes in the top-left cell and the rest follow across each row in turn.

How big is the finished collage?

It's shown under the preview, and it's whatever you picked. A size template pins the output to those exact dimensions. On 'Fit to photos' the canvas is built instead from square photos at the size you choose, from 600 up to 1600 pixels each — so a 2×2 at the default 1200 comes out around 2500 pixels across, big enough to print or post without looking soft.

Can I change the spacing and background?

Yes — adjust the gap between photos and choose any background colour, which shows in the gaps, around the edges and in any empty cells. Spacing is set as a percentage of the photo size, so it looks the same whichever output size you pick.
