Frequently asked questions

Is this repair PDF tool free?

Yes — completely free with no sign-up.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Every repair attempt runs entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.

How does the repair work?

It first tries to re-parse the PDF as leniently as possible and rebuild it from scratch, which fixes most broken xref tables and truncated files while keeping text selectable. If that fails, it falls back to re-rendering each page as an image, which recovers the visual content even from more badly damaged files.

Will the repaired PDF still have selectable text?

Usually, yes — the first repair method preserves the original text and structure. Only if the file is too damaged for that does it fall back to an image-based rebuild, which trades selectable text for guaranteed visual recovery.

What if the repair fails completely?

Some files are damaged beyond what any tool can recover — for example if large parts of the file are missing entirely. In that case, try opening it in a different PDF reader, or restore it from a backup.
