Frequently asked questions
Is this compress PDF tool free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up and no watermark on the result.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Compression happens entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
How does this actually shrink a PDF?
Each page is re-rendered as an image at a lower resolution and quality, then reassembled into a new PDF — the same trade-off a "print to a smaller PDF" feature makes elsewhere.
Will the text still be selectable after compressing?
No. Because every page becomes a flattened image, text is no longer selectable or searchable in the result. If you need to keep selectable text, this isn't the right tool.
Which level should I pick?
Medium is a good default for sharing or emailing. Use Low for the smallest possible file when quality matters less, or High when the PDF is mostly images and you want to keep them looking sharp.
