Frequently asked questions
Is this auto-redact tool free?
Yes — completely free with no sign-up and no limit on how many PDFs you scan.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Scanning and redaction both happen entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
What does it detect?
Aadhaar numbers, PAN, credit and debit card numbers (validated with a checksum to cut down false positives), email addresses and Indian mobile numbers.
Will it catch everything sensitive in my document?
It catches what matches these patterns reliably, but it's not exhaustive — always review the list before downloading, and use the manual Redact PDF tool for anything it misses, like names or addresses.
Is the redaction permanent?
Yes — each page with a match is re-rendered as an image with the matched area painted out, so the original text can't be recovered by copying or selecting it.
